EAL Quality Mark Gold Award School
We are absolutely delighted to announce that Wellington School has been awarded the ‘Gold Award’ by the EAL Quality Mark. The praise was extensive and

our commitment to teaching and learning that is EAL-friendly was championed as well the commitment of senior and middle leaders to ensuring that the academic and social experience of pupils was meaningful and valuable. Again, this is how Wellington ensures its values.
We are very proud that the efforts of all of our School Community are being celebrated!

EAL at Wellington School

At Wellington we aim to support pupils and parents/carers of our EAL learners to ensure that all members of our school community can access the full Wellington experience.

We use EAL assessment where necessary to support teaching and learning as well as further interventions some pupils may require, including intervention programmes and resources to best support our learners.

We seek to make our curriculum reading-rich and our classrooms create an immersive experience for all EAL learners developing their spoken and written English. Similarly, our LRC includes a range of dual-language texts and bilingual dictionaries to support learners in lessons and in completing homework and independent work at break, lunch and after school.
