Year 12 Maths Problem Solving Event

On Thursday 1^st December, eight Year 12 maths students attended a problem-solving event run by the Advanced Maths Support Programme at Manchester University.  It was a fabulous day in an impressive building, the Whitworth Hall.  Throughout the day, the students worked on intriguing and challenging questions, all of which could be solved using familiar techniques but in an unfamiliar way.  The event ended with a nail-biting Cross clue competition where students from different 6^th forms were paired up and set the task of solving a fiendish number crossword.  A fun way to end a thoroughly enjoyable day.  We will definitely be making a booking for this next year.
