Year 11 Football

Mr Tomlinson reports:

“The Year 11 football season has started this week with two games. The league structure has changed in Trafford to a “Tiered” system to hopefully encourage more competitive fixtures and retention of numbers as students develop through the leagues. We played Sale Grammar on Tuesday in a hard fought game. We took the lead through a thunderbolt from Jayden Barrington but then lost our way conceding three goals in a 15-minute period from sloppy play and panic. I was reffing so couldn’t enforce instructions as I would have wanted to (in fact we always play sloppy football when I’m reffing and can’t seem to organise ourselves when we are under pressure). We came out in the second half with a much better attitude and struck early through another thunderbolt, this time from James Buckley. Although we played really well, we couldn’t get that equaliser and got punished on the break in the last minute. 4-2 defeat.

We have entered the Greater Manchester Cup this year and played our first round game against Parrs Wood School on Thursday. A much more accomplished performance from the lads showing better team chemistry and a togetherness which bred confidence. We ran out 9-1 winners in the end with some great free flowing football brought about by patience in possession. Adam Brownhill, who has been superb this season, scored 3, Tom Carr 2, Jaydon Brady 2, George Stelfox 1 and James Drummond 1. We are on the road next week to AOM.”
