Year 10 Yule Log

The year 10 GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition class have had an excellent first term on the course and have really impressed me with their commitment to learning.  The whole class have really tried with every challenge I’ve thrown at them – showing excellent resilience throughout.

With Christmas approaches we decided to challenge ourselves further making a swiss roll to turn into a Yule Log.

On Tuesday the group used the whisking method to produce a fatless sponge. Once this was cooked it need to be rolled quickly to prevent cracking, which can prove to be quite tricky. This was done well by the whole class.

The following day we produced a chocolate icing for decorating as well as preparing the cream for the filling.  Pupils then added any further ingredients they wanted to.

Well done Year 10.
