Year 10 – Chicken Masterclass
Today, chef Martin Belcher from the school catering company, Caterlink, came in to deliver a Chicken Masterclass to the Year 10 GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition Class.
Pupils participated in a 2-hour session learning how to portion a whole chicken and make a stock using the carcass and then make their own “Nando’s” style meal using the different parts of the chicken.
To go with the chicken, pupils also made wedges, coleslaw and salad. They were then challenged to present their food to restaurant standard.
Without a doubt though, the part pupils enjoyed most was eating what they had made.
