World Book Day

The puppies kept Cruella really busy this year – but at least there was more than one of her!

Wellington staff threw themselves into the dressing up once again as you can see; a special mention must go to Maths (Wizard of Oz), History (very educational human “book covers”), and SEN departments – it was so hard to choose a winner but I think Mrs Heaton’s sheer inventiveness to come dressed as a road takes first prize!

The Cake sale was very busy and William Stockley (7SHG) beat off some stiff competition, winning a £10 book token for his Treasure Island cake. Arushi Bhatt (7CSN) was a close second with her beautiful Narnia cake. A special mention also goes to Oliver Aston with his brilliantly presented Billionaire Boy rocky roads and to the collaborative effort from Mrs Ayub’s form for their wonderful Charlie and the Chocolate Factory cake.

In addition, there was quizzes, guess the masked reader, and identify the staff member from their bookshelf – a “who has a shelf like this” (said in a David Frost voice) shelfie competition!

Remember to spend your WBD token before the 26th March – it has gone digital this year and is on Classcharts under Announcements – there are paper copies available in the LRC if you prefer.

Many thanks to everyone for taking part; the bakers, the staff who dressed up and really entered into the spirit of the day (the students loved seeing their teachers looking a bit daft). Finally, it all helps encourage young people to read and develop a love of reading which is what it is all about.
