Trafford Hockey Tournaments

Over the past week there have been 3 hockey tournaments. We have entered a boys’ and girls’ team into each one!

Congratulations to the Year 9 boys and girls hockey teams who took part on Wednesday. The boys came 2nd with Oliver Edge receiving man of the tournament from Zac Bangee who kindly led the team. The girls team fought hard and came joint 3rd with St Bedes. Congratulations to Tilly Holland who received girl of the tournament from Hannah Simms who managed the team. Many thanks to the Year 11 and 12 students who supported the event: Maggie, Zac, Hannah, Charlotte, Jess and Hannah.

The Year 8 boys’ team had draws against Knutsford, Lymm and BTH and then unfortunately lost their final game against Urmston 1-0 leaving them in 4th place.  Eddie Holt was making his debut, scored our only goal and was awarded player of the tournament. A special mention should go to Toby Hornby and Ben Langridge who have played for both the Year 7 and Year 8 teams with great enthusiasm and commitment.

The Year 8 girls’ team was plagued by injury from the first whistle, this was followed by a few goals and plenty of defensive play. Their final position was joint 5th and Sophie Royle received player of the tournament from Maggie Manson who kindly umpired for us.

The Year 7 boys’ team were in a small pool of only 3 teams – they won their first game against BTH and drew against Urmston – leaving them top of their group.  Jake Leslie was awarded player of the tournament.

The Year 7 girls took on AGGS, Loreto and Sale Grammar. They beat both Loreto and AGGS and drew 1-1 with Sale. Emma Baker received girl of the tournament.

Well done to everyone who played.
