Summer Recital Part 1

On Wednesday evening the Vale Hall was the venue for the first of our Summer Recitals from our instrumental students. These recitals are planned as informal events where a small number of our instrumental and vocal students are given the opportunity to perform to an audience, something that I know that has been lacking in recent times. It also allows parents to hear what has been achieved in their child’s instrumental or singing lesson.

Thank you to Mrs Chambers, our singing teacher, for accompanying the vocalists for the evening. Erin Clements and Charlotte Colledge in Year 10 both sang solos as well as joining forces for ‘You Will Be Found’. The musical Hamilton was a popular choice as Charlotte sang ‘Burn’ and Freddie Deighton-Brown even managed to get some audience participation in his rendition of ‘You’ll Be Back’.

Alice, Racine, Kimi and Prisha sang ‘How Far I’ll Go’ from Moana whilst Elizabeth and Eva sang ‘A Million Dreams’ from the Greatest Showman. Penny, Emma and Tilly sang the Freya Ridings song ‘Lost Without You’.

As well as our singers there were performances from our instrumentalists. Molly Young performed the Einaudi piece ‘I Giorni’ on the piano whilst Oliver Freer performed ‘Romance de Amour’ on the classical guitar. We had performances on the violin from both our Grade 6 violin students with Ellen performing a rendition of the theme from the film ‘Ladies in Lavender’ whilst Seiji played ‘Hungarian Dance’.

Thank you, Mrs Smyth, Mr Billingham, Mrs Chambers and Mrs Woodward, for working so well with their students and ensuring that they were well prepared for the evening.
