Netball

The U16 team, made up of our regular Year 11 girls with the addition of Alice, Neve and Mollie from Year 10 and Sofia from Year 9 played a very strong well drilled team from North Chadderton. The girls started strong, gaining an early 6-3 lead after carefully keeping possession of the ball and converting a number of their centre passes to goal. As they settled in, North Chadderton showed off their speed and made it difficult to make interceptions and were very accurate with their shooting. Our girls fought until the end, showing some excellent set pieces of play, particularly in the goal third but couldn’t close the gap and missed out on the win. Well done to Sofia Cameron who was awarded POTM by North Chadderton.

The Year 9 Netball team have had a busy week of fixtures this week, first playing in the Sisters n Sport Cup against Lymm. The Year 9s started strong, leading 6-0 in the first few minutes, converting all their centres to goals, leading at the end of the first quarter. The game was fantastic to watch and was closely contested throughout. Unfortunately, the team missed out on the win by a few goals but took away lots to work on for next time. Ella Bradley picked up numerous fantastic interceptions and was able to support Sophie West a C driving the ball down towards our shooting circle, where dream team Sofia and Ruby converted almost all their shots and were excellent on the rebounds. POTM – Sofia Cameron

The following evening the Year 9s played in the Trafford League and came away with two out of two wins. Beating Sale Grammar 13-4 and ACA 13-1. The girls used this opportunity to put into practice things they needed to work on from Wednesday game, showing lots of excellent play throughout the court, two great games for the whole team. POTM – Ella Bradley and Ruby Wheat!
