“The 1st rehearsal for the Wellington Community Choir was a huge success and a big thank you to all the members who attended”, writes Mrs Moorhouse. “We started the ball rolling with rehearsals for our 1st performance at the Carol Service which will be held in Christ Church, Timperley on Monday 18th December. It is still not too late to join. Our next rehearsal will take place on Monday 4th December from 6.30-8.00pm in the Vale Hall and there will be refreshments. To all our current members – I have not forgotten about you and will be contacting you at the beginning of next week with the scores and recordings I promised.
Another set of thank you’s must go to Sing, Joseph Cardoza, Lucy Allan and Katy Allan for their performances at the memorial held for Judith Adshead, a valued member of the school community. Since 2003 when I was appointed here at Wellington Judith has been incredibly supportive of all we do in the Music Department, never missing a Carol Service, Awards Evening, Talent Show and other concerts we’ve held here in that time. Therefore, we were honoured to contribute to this event, which included some of Judith’s favourite performances from the last 14 years. ‘Rhythm of Life’ was first performed at our awards evening in 2008 and once we discovered this had been one of Judith’s favourite performances Sing accepted the challenge to learn this piece in a few weeks. Joseph Cardoza sang ‘Bring Him Home’, a song he originally performed at the Year 11 and 13 Certificate Evening in 2014 when he was in Year 10, as well as his rendition of ‘Anthem’, very well supported by Sing. A special mention must go to Katy Allan who is currently studying Music at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in Greenwich who returned to sing ‘Pie Jesu’ with her sister, Lucy in Year 10. Thank you to all of you performed.
And now we move on to our next event which will take place on Saturday 18th at the Altrincham Christmas Lights Switch-On. Sing with 7s have merged with Sing for this occasion and we’ll be singing in Stamford Quarter from 2.45-3.05pm. The festivities begin at 1.00pm, presented by Jordan and Lottie from Year 13 and Year 11 respectively. It will be lovely to see you there.
