This week, Year 9 Historians have had the opportunity to handle some artefacts from the First World War. We were very lucky to be able to borrow a loan box of items from the Imperial War Museum North and every Year 9 class had the opportunity to study these items in a History lesson. It was great fun and a fantastic opportunity to study some really unique artefacts from the Great War. We learned about pigeon message carriers, 104-year-old Memorial plaques, Huntley and Palmer’s biscuits, Princess Mary tins and tank masks. It really helped our pupils empathise with the experiences of British soldiers living and fighting from the trenches. Thank you to the IWM for giving us this experience.
