Bowdon Parish Church Choir – Choral Scholarship

Bowdon Parish Church Choir based in the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Bowdon have an amazing opportunity for singers of all voices aged 14-19 through their scholarship scheme. More details can be found below. If you would like any support with an application or if your child is applying we would love to know.

Mrs Moorhouse

‘The choir has an excellent reputation for the breadth and quality of our music and, under the guidance of our musical director, Michael Dow, is one of the best parish choirs in the north of England. We enjoy trips away to cathedrals in the summer including York Minster, Hereford, Wells, Canterbury etc. (and are always invited back which is a great honour).

The scholarship scheme has been very successful, giving excellent training with lots of opportunities for challenging solos, and one of our original scholars has just gained a choral scholarship at Oxford. This has spurred us to renew the initiative this year.

Selection is based on enthusiasm and experience, ability to read music and an audition. The scheme will pay the selected singers £100 per term, which will be dependent on commitment. Students who apply and are not granted a scholarship will still be very welcome to join us, and will be eligible in future years if they show sufficient progress in their skills. Candidates are also able to join the “Voice for Life” training scheme if they so wish.
Follow the link below (which contains links to further information and an application form) if you think might be interested in a scholarship with us.’
