Bastille Day

On Friday 14th July, we welcomed over 200 children from four local primary schools and led them in a carousel of different activities around the theme of the French Revolution for our Primary Bastille Day event. Each station allowed the pupils to use a variety of skills and learn a bit more about French history and culture as well as practising some vocabulary they already knew. This included a game of pétanque (French boules), learning La Marseillaise (French National Anthem), using French vocabulary to colour in flags of French-speaking countries, building an Eiffel Tower out of lolly sticks, completing a quiz on Bastille Day, and dressing up to re-enact the storming of the Bastille. Of course, none of this was possible without the help of some enthusiastic and generous pupils from Years 7, 8 and 10 who motivated the Year 4 students to complete their tasks within the time frame. A huge thank you all of those pupils involved.
