Bastille Day Event
Mrs Stevens with this MFL news:
“WOW! Well what a fantastic two days we have had in the MFL department this week hosting a Primary School Bastille Day Celebration. On Wednesday 10th and July 11th we welcomed 273 children from 6 local primary schools and led them in a carousel of different activities around the theme of the French Revolution. Each station allowed the pupils to use a variety of skills and learn a bit more about French history and culture as well as practising some vocabulary they already knew. This included; a game of pétanques (French boules), learning La Marseillaise (French National Anthem), using French vocabulary to colour in flags of French-speaking countries, building an Eiffel Tower out of lolly sticks, completing a quiz on Bastille Day, ordering food in French and dressing up to re-enact the storming of the Bastille.
Of course, none of this was possible without the help of some enthusiastic and generous pupils from Year 10 and Year 12 who tirelessly motivated and animated the Year 4s to complete their tasks within the time frame. So a huge thank you to those involved, you did Wellington proud.”
