The debating season kicked off with a debate on whether we should ban the teaching of Religious Studies. What seems a pretty unfair target for our anger – it had to be nonetheless be turned into a pivotal issue for society. Our teams just need to get better at linking what looks like – on the surface – a rather trivial and even silly motion, into something that has the potential to be transformative of society – for the worse, or for the better. Of the four teams, the team that convinced the judges of the biggest impact on real people were the team to win. Great start to the year!
