The celebrations continued on Friday, when we welcomed students from Girls’ Grammar and Altrincham College for what is becoming the annual Trafford Book Awards. Each school gave a presentation on their favourite book from the shortlist.

Wellington’s chosen winner was The First Year by Matt Goodfellow.

Each school gave a fantastic presentation; thoughtful and creative with, of course, cake, biscuits and hot chocolate.

I was incredibly proud of the Wellington pupils. Their presentation was varied, funny and engaging, with a great interactive quiz to round things off. They even improvised brilliantly during a technical hitch, showing real confidence and teamwork.

A wonderful celebration of reading and collaboration between schools. Well done to everyone involved!
