UCAS Discover Day
Year 12 began exploring their Post-18 options in earnest on Wednesday. In a morning session in the Adshead Hall, the students used the Unifrog tools to consider potential careers and university courses suited to their skills, interests and personalities. This was then followed by their descent en masse to Manchester Central (GMEX in old money), where the UCAS Discover Day for schools and 6th forms in the Greater Manchester area was held. Here, students were able to speak to those universities and employers they had identified in the morning session. Several conversations suggested that it had been a particularly valuable experience, and in some instances generated awareness of potential courses and careers that they had not even heard of – Liberal Arts anyone? There was also a range of talks aimed at helping students make informed choices, and it was great to see our students engaging with these. Many also made the most of the free merch, leaving bedecked in bucket hats and sunglasses.
