HUGE congratulations to the U14 girls hockey players involved in the England Hockey State Schools event in Cheshire on the hottest day of the year!

 

In blistering heat of 26 degrees, the 7 a-side competition began with a 4-0 win over Lymm. We then faced Loreto, Sale Grammar and AGGS. With only two goals being conceded all day, we faced AGGS in the game to find the winner. Two goals from Orla Mawby made sure we came out as winners! It was a brilliant display of making the ball do the work and well timed passes to save ourselves from exhaustion. The players were Evie Kilgariff, Holly Laing, Emma Blackburn from Year 8 and Taya Clachar, Grace Edge, Orla Mawby, Isla Dugdale-Reed and Emma Baker from Year 9. Well done to all who played. Orla came out as top goal scorer bagging 7 and Emma Blackburn was crowned girl of the tournament from her peers with superb tackles and passes down the left.
