Boys Hockey
The U14 boys hockey squad took on their most difficult challenge of the season this week, playing in the Cheshire and Greater Manchester Boys State Schools Tournament. Our team is made up of some Year 9s and some Year 7 students so we knew we would be up against it, playing against older and stronger teams. We also lost out goalkeeper to a football injury a few days before the event. However, Evie Kilgariff from Year 8 stepped in to help the boys out and played so well, keeping us in the games. After a very hard game against Altrincham Boys Grammar to start us off – the team were a bit down but picked themselves up against a strong Bramhall team scoring first from a Penalty corner from Ben Langridge. Bramhall were however too strong for us and eventually came out on top. We then moved onto play Sale Grammar. We again scored first after some great work from Casper Ahern with Evie keeping us in the game at the defensive end. Unfortunately, Sale were again just too strong for us and scored twice for a narrow 2-1 win – but a positive last game for the team. There is certainly hope for the future with such a young team.
