Race and Equality Council (REC)

The Race Equality Council at Wellington, regularly plans strategies and events throughout the year to ensure a safe and supportive environment for students from diverse backgrounds. Our ultimate goal is for every pupil to feel a strong sense of belonging, safety, and the opportunity to flourish at school. This goal is supported by our school value of community and our zero-tolerance policy for any form of language or behaviour that discriminates against others.

We are proud members of the Trafford Anti-Racism Alliance (TARA) and participate in annual meetings with other local schools to share ideas and organise initiatives that promote an anti-racist school culture.

Each year, any students from Years 7 to 13 interested in becoming anti-racism ambassadors receive specialised training. This training ensures that students feel empowered to help to promote and celebrate our culture of inclusivity.

Building on the success of our annual Eid and Chinese New Year celebrations, along with our festive Christmas events, we are exploring additional cultural occasions to celebrate as a school Community.

We are excited about our goals and ambitions for 2025-2026 and some of our key objectives are listed below.
