Staff and Sixth Form Christmas Jumper Day

This from Mrs Wilson:

“It has become something of a tradition that we have a ‘Staff and Sixth Form Christmas Jumper Day’ to mark the end of term and to raise money for charity. This year was no exception and today saw students and staff looking resplendent in their very fetching, festive woollens! Collection buckets were at the ready and we managed to raise a fantastic £436.59 for ‘Lifeshare’ a small, local charity supporting vulnerable homeless people in Greater Manchester.

A representative from the charity came into assembly on Tuesday to speak to our Year 12 and 13 students about the important work the charity do to give much needed help to young people (many the same age as our sixth formers) and the projects they have in place to give specific support over the Christmas and New Year period – when temperatures plummet and the sense of loneliness, isolation and fear is even tougher. Our students were clearly moved by his stories and spurred on to make an even bigger effort to fundraise.

We would like to thank all the students, staff and families for their generosity in supporting such a worthy charity. A big well done too to those who went the extra mile to wear some wacky and wonderful creations!”
