Year 9 Netball – 27.09.17

This from Mrs Thomson:

“The Year 9 Netball squad took to the courts in droves on Tuesday evening for their first match of the new season.  A ‘friendly’- organised to take the girls outside their comfort zone of the Trafford League – saw us welcome Manchester High School for Girls to our home courts.  This was a real baptism of fire for our Year 9 squad ‘newbies’ Millie Whitfield, Amber Kelly and Ellie Budenberg, and an excellent practice for the team ahead of a critical Seedings Tournament next week.  Also, to her credit, an injured regular Katy Worthington came in support and took on the role of Timekeeper.

With newly elected Captain, Sophie Hurlstone, leading a thorough and very professional warm-up and team talk the girls took to court with their usual effervescence and determination.  The friendly –  played out over 4 quarters – and with lots of substitutions as we trialled different positions and team combinations saw the girls play some very accomplished netball. Final score on the night was Wellington 9 – MHGS 12, an excellent result against a typically very strong Manchester High team.  I am feeling very positive about the season and am impressed as ever with the girls’ commitment to netball.”
