Year 8 Netball
Miss Challinor with this report:
“The Year 8 netball season has finally come to an end with the annual Trafford tournament taking place at Stretford Grammar. Having not played together for a while, our girls were eager to get back into their winning ways from Year 7.
With a full team of 11 ready to play, we started the first game against Stretford Grammar. The girls were making precise passes and their efforts paid off with a 2-0 win, with Jasmine scoring both goals.
Our second game against Sale High went the same way, with Rosie adding to her running total to secure a 3-0 win. The third game against Urmston Grammar saw our girls keep their clean sheet, and this time Scarlett joined in with the goal scoring with a 4-0 win.
Our final game of the group stages saw us play our biggest rivals Sale Grammar. With some great play from both sides we unfortunately lost our clean sheet with Sale scoring 2 goals, but ended as the winners of the group stage with a 4-2 victory, with Scarlett scoring all 4 goals.
Through to the semi-finals we were up against Loreto. This game was extended to 2 five minute halves, with all our girls having the chance to play some very high quality netball. The first half ended 4-2 to Loreto, with outstanding performances from our defenders, and 2 great goals scored by Rosie and Scarlett. The 2nd half saw Loreto step up their attacking, which was unfortunately too strong for our girls on the day. The final score was 5-3 to Loreto who went through to play Altrincham Girls in the final.
Outstanding performances from all of the girls tonight, with each student showing the upmost respect and sportsmanship that is expected of them.
Well done everyone!
Full team list: Jayda Onilude, Alicia Wright, Esme Aldridge, Ruby Slattery, Marina Rotsides-Leigh, Scarlett Stepney, Rosie Bradley, Evie Cummins, Jen Lewis, Lottie Coles and Jasmine Ellaby.”
