Year 8 Island Projects

Miss Spencer with this Year 8 English Update:

“Year 8 have been working on homework projects where the task was to design an island and then write about it. Several students asked if they could create their island in cake form instead of drawing or building a model. Who was I to say no? The students have thrown themselves wholeheartedly into this project, producing some fantastic models (ranging from a floating city made from recycled paper to an island shaped like a skull!) and delicious cakes, which we have enjoyed at break and lunch times these last two weeks. I have been particularly impressed by how imaginative they have been with devising the features of the islands and I look forward to reading their travel guides based on their designs immensely. I would also like to add that although delicious, it’s safe to say the diet has gone out of the window. Fortunately, I don’t think I will be able to look at cake for quite a while…

Well done 8X1, 8Y2 and 8Y3!”
