Year 8/9 Basketball
“Over the past two weeks the 8/9 basketball team have played 3 games and I’m pleased to say are still unbeaten” writes Mr Tomlinson. “The first of those games against Sale High where we won 29-16 with the whole team contributing to the game on a very small court and Cameron Davenport making his debut. The Year 8’s of Tom Pattison, Joe Hughes, Alfie Jenkins and Fraser Gaulton played well in defence off the interchange bench. Following that we played Broadoak where we won 47 – 9, in this game we started playing more like a team with our range of passing. Max Nikou, Ethan Steward and Owen Wadsworth really rallied the troops. Ben Lawson and Lewis Mairs made their debut with Lewis scoring a few baskets to the delight of his fan club (his parents) on the side line. The last of the run saw us play North Cestrian and we won 83 – 5 which I think might be a record for the school. The attitude to keep doing the right things throughout the game pleased me more with Ethan Steward really impressing in the game. Our biggest test is to come on the 18th December when we play Altrincham Boys Grammar at home. Well done lads – good season so far.”
