Year 7 Rounders
Miss Kelly with this tournament report:
“Last Tuesday, the Year 7 rounders team played in their first tournament at Sale Grammar. It was a great opportunity to show how much effort the girls had put in leading up to this at lunchtime and afterschool practices.
We were fortunate enough to be able to take 16 girls, some were part of our fielding team and others were our batters. In the group round, we played AOM, AGGS, Flixton and Sale Grammar and dominated the field, coming away with four convincing wins and securing us first place in our group.
Captain, Nancy Pickles was superb batting and in the field, catching over four players of the opposition out and scoring numerous rounders. Hannah Simms instructed the field as she let nothing past her at 2nd base, closing down and stumping out uncountable batters. Our bowler, Sophie Neary was fantastic, minimal no balls and scored multiple rounders batting. Jess Hill at backstop efficiently transferred the ball across the pitch and really controlled the game from the back.
In a close, but tough semi-final our batting and fielding was excellent, the girls had really settled into the game and worked tirelessly to score multiple rounders. We unfortunately lost by ½ a rounder to AGGS and missed out on a place in the finals. We next played local rivals BTH for 3rd/4th placing, our batting and fielding was outstanding and our girls played with such maturity which secured a win, meaning we came 3rd in the tournament out of 11 schools in Trafford.
A huge well done to our rounders team!”
