Year 7 Netball 01.02.17

Miss Challinor shares some fantastic netball news:

“What an amazing evening for Wellington netball!

Our Year 7 team were out to prove themselves against BTH after the previous defeat at the start of the season.

BTH won the toss and took the first centre, but they were instantly outplayed by our girls.  Ruby Slattery was playing at an all time best in centre, ensuring that BTH were never able to keep the ball for long, and early goals from Scarlet Stepney and Rosie Bradley meant we ended the first quarter with a 3-1 lead.  Jayda Onilude and Alicia Wright were the perfect match in defence, making it incredibly difficult for BTH to get much time around the post.  A quick swap around gave Jasmine Ellaby the chance to show off her shooting skills, and paired with Scarlet we ended the second quarter with a comfortable 7-3 lead.  Shahed Bawadekji came on in defence and showed that her feisty approach over powered the BTH attacking height.  The third quarter ended 11-6 and the girls were now buzzing with the prospect of being only 6 minutes away from victory. The final quarter saw outstanding play from our centre players Marina Rotsides-Leigh, Esme Aldridge and Imogen Pickles, who were constantly pushing forward and attacking the ball. The final score was 14-8 to our girls, a very well deserved victory.  BTH awarded our girl of the game to Ruby Slattery, who did not stop running from the first to the very last whistle.  This now means that our girls are the Year 7 Trafford Netball Champions, and will go on to represent the school and Borough in the Manchester Winter Games in March. A very huge well done to all who played, and a big thank you to everyone who came down to show their support on the night. Well done!”
