Year 7 English
My Year 7T class have been exploring a new novel entitled ‘The Bone Sparrow’, which explores the life of a nine-year -old Rohingya boy in an asylum detention centre.
The children are really enjoying this new topic and they are demonstrating a high level of empathy for the characters as well as a great understanding of the power of language and imagery.
As part of their homework, the students were tasked with creating a piece of artwork to illustrate the detention centre of the ‘night sea’ which the main character Subhi imagines is bringing him treasures from his father.
Some of the work was amazing as we had cakes, 3d models, videos, collages and intricate artwork to illustrate these parts of the novel. I was delighted by the whole class’s efforts!
