Year 7 & 8 Rugby
Mr Higginson with these match reports:
“Last week the Year 7’s and 8’s travelled to Bridgewater High School for 7 a side fixtures. The Year 7’s competed very well against and able and experienced Bridgewater team, losing 8 tries to 3. The Year 8’s played 3 matches and came away with a record of 2 losses and 1 win. With the 7 a side format being new to the boys, both Mr Beeley and I were very impressed with how quickly they adapted and performed.”
Last Thursday saw the Year 7’s travel to St Ambrose to compete in the Cheshire school 7’s. Drawn in a tough pool, the team came away with a win against Hilbre school and losses to St Ambrose and Lymm. Finishing 3rd in the pool, Wellington narrowly lost their play-off game to Sale Grammar finishing the tournament in 6th place. The team worked incredibly hard throughout the tournament and were unlucky not to win their playoff game at the end.
On Tuesday the Year 8’s competed in the Cheshire schools 7’s at Stockport RUFC. With a record of 2 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw, the team finished the day in 3rd place. The boys played fantastically and despite the tough conditions, managed to move the ball very well to score so brilliant tries.”
