Year 7 English
“7R and myself decided to celebrate Christmas early this year in the style of the Icelandic tradition of Jolabokaflod” writes Mrs Gilbert. “In Iceland, on Christmas Eve, everyone gives each other books as presents (a librarian’s dream!) Whilst sitting in front of the fire and eating chocolate the cosy, warm Icelanders then read the books they have been given.
We couldn’t manage the snow or the fire but we did eat chocolate and read books on the last lesson of the term. 7R were very excited to receive their “presents” of handpicked library books and some even managed a half decent attempt at pronouncing Jolabokaflod!
Well done 7R for being such a fabulous class in your library lessons; I love to see the pleasure you take in reading and the genuine enthusiasm you have for books.”
