Year 12 Geography: Lake District Fieldwork

Mr Whitaker and Miss Jones with this trip report:

“For three days this week the Year 12 Geographers went on a residential to the Blencathra Field Studies Centre near Keswick. We also visited the Victorian coastal town of Silloth and learnt how to conduct beach sampling techniques and coastal defence analysis. Students returned on the Tuesday to carry out their fieldwork methods for their A level NEA project. On the Wednesday we then visited Keswick and conducted fieldwork questionnaires and land use surveys with regards to branding, access and attitudes to tourists in the area. The students had a great time and enjoyed the food but not the late nights working until 9pm. I real character building experience with all the students behaving impeccably and experiencing true gritty geography!”
