Year 12 English Literature

Mr Williams with this trip report:

“On Wednesday, a group of year 12 English Literature students went into Manchester to hear lectures about F Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, which they have been studying as part of their American Literature module. We heard from university lecturers about the context of the novel, the issues concerning gender roles in the novel, Fitzgerald’s narrative style and the significance of dreams in the novel. All the lectures were very engaging and not only did they serve to further the students’ understanding of the novel, but they also gave them an insight into the format of lectures at university – which in turn made me feel rather nostalgic! It was a really good day and being out and about in Manchester on the warmest day of the year certainly helped!”
