Year 11 Visit to Salford Quays

Mr Holt with this trip report:

“A morning of art appreciation and a widening of one’s cultural and historical understanding was the order of the day for six Year 11 boys this morning. In order to complete the Expressive Arts element of the Certificate of Personal Effectiveness, a study of the design of the Imperial War Museum North was followed by a stroll around the Lowry Art Gallery to learn about how the industrial north was represented by Lowry himself. Comments from students ranged in depth from “my four-year-old sister can draw better than that” to “I love the way the crowds of people seem to flow towards the middle of the painting”. With art and design being so subjective it seemed only appropriate that the group pause for reflection and discussion at McDonald’s (my treat) on the way back to school.”
