VI Form Football
Mr Morgan with this match report:
“The 6th form ‘seniors’ football team played their first fixture on Wednesday afternoon away at St Ambrose College, this was a Greater Manchester schools cup competition first round fixture. Considering it was the first time the Year 12 and 13 team had played together, the team worked well and at times played some quality football. Dan Campion led the defence well with Matt Heeran solid in goal. Kieran Ruddick and Josh Wilkinson formed a good partnership in midfield with Gentian Bogujevci creating well at number 10. The first half ended 0-0, but it was clear that Wellington were on the front foot, they got their rewards with two second half goals from Josh Wilkinson, one a delicate chip from the edge of the area. Our lack of height at the back, led to a late goal from St Ambrose with a back post header, however the end result 2-1 Wellington was well deserved. Our next game takes place on Friday against Manchester Grammar School in the first round of the English Schools Cup.”
