U15 Girls Football
Miss Kelly with this match report:
“On Tuesday evening the U15 girls football team, who were a combination of players from Years 9 and 10, played their first Greater Manchester Football Cup match against Bury Church of England School. The girls played brilliantly, showing off their talent and skill with fantastic team spirit from start to finish. After 6 minutes we were 1-0 up with a fantastic goal from Ruby. This was closely followed by a great run up the pitch and finish by Beth, putting us 2-0 up. Brianna, Ruby, Ellie and Annie worked fantastically well in defence alongside Ria in goal, minimising opportunities and making play very difficult for the opposition, who worked very hard and managed to get two goals back. With 1 minute to go until half time, Maizy scored an excellent goal, putting the half time score at 3-2 Wellington. The girls started strong in the second half, Daisy and Lucy used their skill and speed to keep the ball in our attacking half, creating a number of goal scoring opportunities. Despite the tough efforts from Brianna, Amy, Esther and Rosie at the back, Bury were able to score two further goals putting the final score at 4-3 to Bury. The girls worked extremely hard right up until the end, just missing out on the win.
Player of the match goes to Beth Sullivan in Year 9 who showed great fitness playing the full game, fantastic skill which allowed her to link well with the rest of the team and scored one of our amazing goals.
Well done to all the girls who played!”
