U13 Girls’ Futsal

“A joint Year 7 and 8 team entered the U13 girls’ futsal tournament at the Powerleague Sportsdome on Tuesday this week.

Despite a 7-0 win against Stretford Grammar and a hard fought 2-1 victory over Ashton on Mersey, a 1-0 loss in the decider against Flixton Girls School meant that the team narrowly missed out on the final.

Sophia Nagel, Ava Feldman, Nancy Pickles, Holly Abbott and captain Lydia Gee all scored goals during the tournament but could not sneak one past the Flixton goalkeeper in a game where Wellington had the better of the play.

All the girls represented the school impeccably throughout the afternoon both on and off the pitch – they should be very proud of their efforts.”
