Ski Trip 2017 – Trip Report
Miss MacGlinchey with this report on the Ski Trip:
“This year the ski trip returned to the fabulous Killington Resort in Vermont. Despite a flight delay due to the east coast snow storm, we woke up to lovely blue skies and pristine slopes. After meeting the ski coaches (Barb, Gary, Michael, Nancy, Nicolette, Tony, Teryn, and Kate) the pupils embarked on 5 days of fantastic skiing and fun times. The ‘Beast of the East’ is the best resort that we have skied in. The resort was full of exciting trails ranging from beginner slopes right through to ‘double diamond’ black for the experts, which many of our pupils set their sights on! We had a mix of weather throughout the week so pupils could experience skiing in sunny conditions as well as snowy and blizzard like conditions. As always the ski coaches were absolutely fabulous. They were friendly, encouraging and great fun to be around. They even brought the pupils skiing through the trees which was one of the highlights for many of them!! In the evenings pupils were kept busy swimming in the hotel pool, bowling and tubing.
When our skiing was sadly finished we headed to New York. We stopped at Woodbury Common Outlet mall for some shopping then onwards to our New York hotel. In the evening we went for a nice meal at the Hard Rock Café and then we explored the bright lights of Times Square. On the final day in New York we had the opportunity to explore the famous landmarks – the Freedom Tower (with it’s amazing views of the city), American Museum of Natural History, Central Park, Grand Central Terminal and 5th Ave. It was another amazing trip and the pupils were a credit to the school. Mr Higginson and Miss Challinor are well on their way to finalising the details of next year’s ski trip, once again to Killington and New York.”
