Primary Maths Challenge Mornings
Mr Riley writes:
“Over the past few weeks, Mrs Fairbairn and I, along with some Year 8 volunteers have been visiting local primary schools to run maths challenge mornings for their Year 5 pupils. The challenges required mathematical skills, problem solving, team work and communication to be successful.
We have visited Stamford Park, Heyes Lane and Navigation and were impressed by the maturity, communication skills and of course, the mathematical ability of all the Year 5 students who took part their enthusiasm was also infectious. We look forward to seeing many of them as Wellington students in the not so distant future.
Our Year 8 volunteers were also brilliant; making the events run smoothly, helping the students with the problems and keeping track of the score board as we went along – it would not have been possible without them.
We are always looking to forge links with local primary schools and would love to take the challenge mornings to more of our feeder primaries next year.”
