‘Oscars’ – Drama Update

This from Mrs Hamlin:

“Firstly, I would like to apologise for not writing recently. It has been so busy in the drama department. The biggest thing I would like to report is the launch and success of our first ever OSCARS adventure.

This is a two-hour workshop based group for Wellington’s most talented students with entry via audition only. There were only 20 places offered to students in year 7, 8, 9 and 10 and with 70 students turning up to audition the week before we broke up, myself, Mrs Simpson and Miss Spencer had our work cut out. The talent of all 70 students was absolutely phenomenal and the excitement, energy, focus and commitment of all auditionees was a real testament to the impact drama is having on the lives of our Welly thespians. After two rounds of auditions, hours spent in the Vale Hall and a very excited group of students rushing around the school site to find out if they were successful or not, we were down to our final 20.

I would like to congratulate Mary Pusey, Isabel Brown, Rosie Clarke, Skye Mulliner, Jemima Buckley, Ella Crabb, Ella Barnacle, Charlotte Cosh, Abbie Le Boutillier, Grace Turner, Hannah Gibson, Daisy Leigh, Ryan Mulvey, Evie Needham, Romany Flynn, William Dewy-Simmons, Tom Allen and Ollie Chapman.

The students participated in their first workshop last night which was a huge success. Myself and the drama team are super excited about our future plans and adventures in the coming year. Events are being kept top secret for now so watch this space for future announcements!”
