Music of the Week
This from Mrs Moorhouse:
“Following a very interesting conversation at Year 7 parents evening last night, I’d like to bring your attention to the Music Bulletin which is published weekly and displayed in tutor bases. The bulletin gives details of all our extra-curricular activities for the week. Extra rehearsals or cancellations known about in advance are also published on the bulletin.
All our instrumental and vocal students should also keep an eye out for the bulletin as it may contain important reminders or notes regarding their lessons.
In the past few weeks we’ve also used the bulletin as a revision tool for Year 10 & 11 vocabulary revision.
My favourite part of the bulletin however is ‘Music of the Week’. This is where we aim to share music that we think students and staff should know about and listen to. Some are old favourites, guilty pleasures, new finds and staff and students are encouraged to share any gems with us. Following my outrage while educating some of my students on the genius of Nile Rodgers and Chic – no it’s not P Diddy who wrote this – our theme for this term is original songs which have been sampled in the 00s & 10s. This week’s song was ‘I got the love’ by Labi Siffre which was sampled in the early 2000s by an influential rap artist – do you know who it is?
Make sure you check our Music Bulletin each Monday and get listening to our recommendations. You can also follow us on Instagram @wellingtonschoolmusic or Twitter @Mus_Wellington
And if you have any recommendations then please let us know!”
