MFL News This Week
Mrs Williams reports on a busy week in the MFL Department.
“Mrs Stevens’ Year 9 French have used authentic literature from Roald Dahl’s The Witches. Using Roald Dahls’ description of how to recognise a witch they drew and labelled their own depictions and gave a past tense opinion on the chapter. Frightening!!
Year 8 French have been using their imagination and the conditional tense to describe their ideal home and where they would like to live. There have been some fantastic pieces!
In German, Mrs Whitham’s Year 7 class have been practising their alphabet skills by finding challenging words for their partner to spell out loud – including “Innerer Schweinehund” (lazy procrastination!) and Mrs Ramsumair’s 9A class have been listening to the Foreign Language Assistant talk about her home country, Austria, and formulating questions in German to find out more.
Mrs Collins’ 7X3 French class have been learning a French song ‘J’aime les fruits’, to learn how to give their opinions about fruit. They then wrote sentences in their books for homework. Abi Atherton in 7SCP did some lovely illustrations to accompany her sentences.
7X1 have been celebrating Halloween early by learning a song ‘C’est l’halloween’. They then wrote extended sentences expressing their opinions about Halloween and Mr Hennessy’s Year 7 French group have produced some excellent conversation scripts, including one innovative student who made his script into an argument!”
