Mr Hodson with this news on what the Maths department have been up to this week.

“It’s been a busy week in the department with the following activities.

UKMT Challenge

The annual UKMT team challenge was held this year at Manchester Grammar School, with over 37 schools competing there was stiff competition from the best Mathematicians from the whole of the North West. Our students performed brilliantly and can be proud of their respectable 15th position. Well done to all involved.

Pi Day

The annual Pi day celebration was a great success culminating in three competitions. A Pi plate competition, a maths challenge and finally a competition to remember the most digits of pi. Incredibly one student managed to remember a staggering 226 digits of Pi!
