Jo Timmins 1955 – 2017
It is with great sadness that I report the passing of former colleague Jo Timmins. We were contacted by Jo’s step mum to inform us that she had passed away on Sunday after a long battle with cancer. Jo taught here from 1980, initially at the Girl’s School, latterly in the RE department, before retiring in 2013. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and I shall pass on any further details we receive.
Many staff have fond memories of Jo, Mrs Cook writes “she was a kind and thoughtful teacher who cared so deeply about her students. I was on a tutor team with her when I returned from maternity leave, until moving on to be a 6th form tutor. She was loved by her tutor groups, she was an outstanding tutor and good friend to many staff too. She must have spent a fortune over the years buying her tutor groups gifts at exam time and providing stationary etc with good luck cards, not to mention Christmas and Easter too.”
Mrs Copeland adds “when I first started teaching at the Girls’ School I remember Jo being a great friend and mentor to me. Starting a new job is always a challenge but Jo made me feel welcome from the minute I entered the School.”
Jo will be dearly missed.
