Imperial War Museum Loan Box
“This week, Year 9 have had the opportunity to handle some artefacts from the First World War” writes Mr Gerschler. “We have been very lucky to be able to borrow a loan box of items from the Imperial War Museum and every Year 9 class has had the opportunity to study these items in a recent History lesson. It was great fun and a really fantastic opportunity to study some really unique items from the Great War. We learned about pigeon message carriers, 100-year-old Memorial plaques, Huntley and Palmer’s biscuits, Princess Mary tins, training rifles and tank masks. It really helped our pupils empathise with the experiences of British soldiers living and fighting from the trenches. Thank you to the IWM for giving us this experience.”
