Geographical Association Lecture

Miss Hennessey with this news:

“This Thursday evening, a group of our enthusiastic KS5 geographers attended a lecture at Manchester Metropolitan University about the topic ‘Water and Carbon Cycles’ which is studied during the A level course. The guest speaker, Professor Geraldene Wharton from Queen Mary University, presented the most recent findings regarding changes to the water cycle and carbon cycle as a result of human activity. She emphasised the importance of mitigation strategies as the initial target of a reduction in temperature by 2 degrees Celsius is becoming increasingly unlikely, largely due to the increase in wildfires in South America and over abstraction of water supplies globally. The students valued the experience and are excited for the next lecture regarding the planning of their non-examined assessment, 3rd December 2019.”
