Duke of Edinburgh Presentation
Miss Challinor writes:
“On Thursday, Mr Gubbins and I went along to the North of England Gold Duke of Edinburgh awards presentation at Buckingham Palace.
We were met by hundreds of young people from the North West who were receiving their certificates, as well as honorary guests HRH the Princess Royal, HRH the Earl of Wessex and HRH the Countess of Essex, who were walking around offering their congratulations to the young people for their efforts and commitments in completing their Gold award. There were also numerous famous faces at the ceremony- all of which feel very passionately about the Duke of Edinburgh scheme.
Although this year we have had over 100 students taking part in their Bronze and Silver awards, we have not had any begin their Gold award. However, after being involved in the awards presentation yesterday, we have begun talks on how best to introduce the Gold award into Wellington School.
A massive well done to all the young people around the country for completing their Gold award, and watch this space for news about how we are going to expand our Duke of Edinburgh scheme here at Wellington.”
