Cross Country Competition

“What a lovely afternoon out at Crossford bridge for the Trafford cross country competition”, writes Miss Challinor. “We were able to take full teams from Years 7,8 and 9, and a girls’ team from Year 10. We also had one 6th former taking part which was brilliant to see.

The first race saw the Year 7 girls competing- arguably the biggest turn out in the competition. Our 8 girls gave it their absolute all, with everyone finishing the race. One of our runners, Bronte Neary, finished in 7th place and gained a place on the Trafford Cross Country Team.

Our Year 7 boys were next to compete, again all putting on a fantastic show. Unfortunately, there were no top 10 finishes for them, but they worked fantastically well as a team and all completed the race.

Our Year 8 and 9 girls competed in a combined race which saw Brianna Morrison come in the top 20.

The Year 8 and 9 boys race was highly competitive, however, we managed to have a top 10 finish. Harry Edmundson finished in 8th place, meaning he too has gained a place on the Trafford cross country team.

The Year 10 girls race had small numbers, but our 4 girls gave it their absolute best. Again, no top 10 finishes this time, but a great race none the less. Finally, Luke McKendry was the only year 12/13 male to compete from all the schools, so he ran with the year 10/11 boys. He automatically qualified for the Trafford Cross Country Team after a solid performance.

All of our students showed resilience and determination this afternoon, and behaved in a manner reflective of the schools’ values and expectations. Well done everyone.”
