Community Art Project

This news from the Art Department:

“We were contacted by Susan Pavey from ‘Friends of Pickering Lodge Park’ last year. She asked for our help in undertaking a community project by creating a mural for the park. Our Sixth Form Enrichment students worked hard on designing some ideas. The chosen two designs got sent to the council and once we got the nod our students set to work on creating the stencils for the mural.

On Wednesday a group of 11 Sixth Formers headed off to the Park to start the mural. Lots of passers-by stopped to comment, we even got offered cups of tea by some gentlemen at the bowling green. Susan Pavey and other members of the committee called by regularly to check the progress and take photographs along the way.  It was a fantastic sunny day and our students worked very hard all day. We are all absolutely delighted with final murals and we hope that when you visit the park it will ‘make you smile when skies are grey’.”
