Choices Careers Show – 29.03.17
Mrs Mackay with this trip report:
“On Wednesday morning 45 Year 10 and Sixth Form students, with myself, Mr Shaw and Mr Plaiter attended “Choices”, the largest skills, careers and apprenticeships show in the region, at Event City in Manchester.
The students had numerous opportunities to meet employers, hear from industry experts, speak to young people already at work, watch and take part in skills competitions and try a range of career-related activities. The event was organised into different zones including: Engineering and Technology, Hospitality and Lifestyle, Construction and Infrastructure, media Creativity, IT and Enterprise and Campus and Careers. The students were able to visit each one throughout the morning.
There were approximately 80 exhibitors with a number of “Have a go” stands, which our students fully immersed themselves into. The had a go at presenting the ITV news, with Tony Morris giving them guidance and advice on the “Do’s and Don’ts” on television.
All agreed that the event was very worthwhile, informative and enjoyable.”
