Students in 8E English have been dreaming of a great escape to their own imaginary islands.
As part of their travel writing unit, the pupils have been looking at various types of travel writing literature – including some excellent pieces from comedian and actress Sue Perkins. Her book, ‘East of Croydon’ and the BBC travelogue she also presented, ‘The Mekong River’ have given a fascinating view of other worlds and cultures and provided inspiration for the class’s own travel writing.
And, as part of this unit, they have also been inventing their own island adventure which led to the creation of some fabulous travel brochures which had everything from treetop hotels to underwater adventures and deliciously unusual cuisine.
